| This
Page highlights Singaporean as the fun-loving, straight-talking
people as we heartily believe we are! Don't believe me?! Okay, read
on!

| KAISU |
| First
we look at the one word that describes the entire Singapore mentality,
culture and way of life : kaisu (pronounced allegro
: khee-a-sue). Kia su or "K S" is a term taken from the
province of Fujian in China). In Chinese writing, it comprises wro
words - KIA (as in "afraid") and SU (as in "lose").
Taken together it becomes a phrase "Afraid to lose (out)".
It spans an entire philosophy
and way of life for the Singaporean!
Which
other country in this world can lay claim to one single word describing
their culture and their way of life? That's right! No one! Why?
Because no one can beat Singapore! We are the Best! (Click here
if you really want to see what other areas we are first
or good
at!)
After
going through this page, you will forever deride your friends or
any stranger when they sprout the myth that Singaporean are humourless,
toe the offical line all the time, and do not know how to enjoy
themselves. Click

view forever! |

| SINGLISH |
As
in any mature society, language is a living thing. Here we have
gathered the best works depicting the local variant of the English
language - known as Singlish. In other countries, it is known as
Cockney, Strine, KiwiSpeak, American English.... the list is so
long.
So
let's learn the local talk from two experts. Please be warned that
there are adult materials scattered in the second entry (Ultimate
Singlish Guide) and all those under 18 are advised to learn their
Singlish vocabulary from the first entry. Do not worry, you will
be fully capable of functioning in Singapore if you could master
most of the words presented in "How Well...." For those
who prefer to "go native" and are above 18 years of age,
"The Ultimate Guide..." is recommended. However, you have
been warned and the WebMaster will not reply to flames on the Guide.
Compliments are welcome!
